City lights
04. November 2021
After the impressive success of the light illuminations on historic buildings in the city of Bremen last Advent, the CityInitiative is organizing "Lights of the City" for the second time. Beginning on November 4th, 2021 at 5:30 p.m., atmospheric light shows under the motto "Autumn Moments" will once again move into the living room. After that, the buildings will be illuminated daily from 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. up to and including November 14, 2021.
The illuminated buildings from 2020, Schütting, Chamber of Crafts and Herdentor/Am Wall, will be expanded this year to include the cotton exchange and a house on Sögestrasse. These facades are decoratively staged by the light artist Daniel Margraf with projections. The Church of Our Lady will also be there for the first time and provided with an artistic motif by Moritz Hoffmann. A very special highlight this year, however, is the cathedral, which Stefan Ihmig will transform into a digital-abstract work of art. Thanks to the sponsoring by Himig himself and the curator and producer of "Lichter der City" Florian Stelljes, this overwhelming video illumination for the cathedral could be realized. On November 4th, 2021, the light and video installations will be officially switched on at 5:45 p.m. and will end on November 14th, 2021 at 11:00 p.m. The buildings will be illuminated daily from 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. "Lights of the City" is funded by the City Center action program and supported by the Bremen Cotton Exchange.
